Growth in Smartphone Users Slows Down: Poll

Growth in Smartphone Users Slows Down: Poll

Tokyo, April 21 (Jiji Press)--The growth rate of smartphones users has slowed down in Japan, a poll by Central Research Services Inc., a Jiji Press affiliate, showed Friday.
In the poll taken in February, 58.4 pct of respondents said they use smartphones, up 2.1 percentage points from the previous survey last year. The growth slowed, however, from 6.6 points the year before.
While smartphones are in widespread use among younger people, the penetration level remains low in older generations, according to the survey.
The survey covered 4,000 adults across the country, with 30 pct giving valid responses.
Around 90 pct of respondents in their 20s to 40s were smartphone users. In contrast, the share was low at 35.1 pct for those in their 60s and 12.2 pct for those in their 70s.
