Foreigners Net Buyers of Japanese Stocks for 6th Week

Tokyo, May 18 (Jiji Press)--Foreign investors were net buyers of Japanese stocks for the sixth consecutive week last week, a Tokyo Stock Exchange report showed Thursday.
In the week from May 8 through Friday, overseas investors posted a buying excess of 560,202 million yen, up from the holiday-shortened preceding week's 158,332 million yen, according to the report on stock transactions via 52 brokerage firms on the TSE and the Nagoya Stock Exchange, Japan's two major stock exchanges.
In the reporting week, the key 225-issue Nikkei average surged 438.20 points, or 2.25 pct, to 19,883.90, thanks chiefly to the yen's falls against the dollar.
