Japan, China Agree to Bolster Cooperation

Beijing, April 15 (Jiji Press)--Visiting Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono on Monday agreed with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
Kono met with Li in Zhongnanhai, the leadership compound in Beijing, after attending a bilateral high-level economic dialogue in the Chinese capital on Sunday. The Kono-Li talks were also joined by Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hiroshige Seko and others.
Stepped-up cooperation between China and Japan will not only benefit both countries but also help the global economy maintain its stable momentum of recovery, Li told Kono.
In response, the Japanese minister showed Tokyo's eagerness to jointly make efforts with China to tackle global issues, while noting that Japan-China relations face tough challenges.
At a separate meeting later on Monday, held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing, Kono and Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi also confirmed their intentions to expand bilateral cooperation.
