Planned New Yamanote Line Station Named "Takanawa Gateway"

Tokyo, Dec. 4 (Jiji Press)--A planned new station on the Yamanote Line in Tokyo will be named Takanawa Gateway, East Japan Railway Co. <9020>, or JR East, said Tuesday.
The new station, to be located between Tamachi and Shinagawa stations in Minato Ward, will be the 30th stop on the busy loop line.
JR East is set to open the station, currently under construction, in spring 2020.
It will be the first new depot on the line since Nishi-Nippori Station was opened in April 1971.
JR East solicited ideas for the name of the new station from the public. It received 64,052 applications.
