Japanese Household Spending Up 0.1 Pct in Dec.

Tokyo, Feb. 8 (Jiji Press)--Japanese household spending rose 0.1 pct from a year earlier in price-adjusted real terms in December, marking the first increase in four months, the internal affairs ministry said Friday.

Consumption expenditures by households with two or more members averaged 329,271 yen in the reporting month, the ministry said.
Expenditures on smartphone fees and spending on education including private school entrance exam fees increased.
Spending on home durable goods, such as vacuum cleaners, and winter clothing including coats were brisk as well.
