Japan Jan. Coincident Index Down 2.7 Points

Tokyo, March 7 (Jiji Press)--Japan's composite index of coincident economic indicators for January fell 2.7 points from the previous month, the Cabinet Office said Thursday.
The coincident CI, which reflects current economic conditions, stood at 97.9 against 100 for the base year of 2015, the government agency said in a preliminary report.
The Cabinet Office revised down its assessment of the index, saying that it signals a possible downward turning point. The government agency expressed such a view for the first time since November 2014.
The leading CI, a yardstick for the economy's performance months ahead, was down 1.3 points at 95.9.
