(Update 2) Court Denies Ghosn Request to Attend Nissan Board Meeting

Tokyo, March 11 (Jiji Press)--Tokyo District Court rejected on Monday a request from former Nissan Motor Co. <7201> Chairman Carlos Ghosn for permission to attend a board meeting of the Japanese automaker slated for Tuesday.
Ghosn, 65, is still a board member of Nissan but needed court permission to attend the meeting, as conditions for his release on bail from detention imposed by the court include restrictions on contact with people involved with his alleged financial misconduct, including Nissan officials.
Ghosn's side, which lodged the request on Friday, filed a complaint against the decision, only to be dismissed.
Public prosecutors had already pointed to the possibility of Ghosn destroying evidence if he attended the meeting, in a paper submitted to the court, sources familiar with the matter said.
Nissan, too, had voiced concern that Ghosn's participation in the meeting would make it difficult to discuss issues properly.
