Industry Ministry to Promote Japanese Aircraft Parts to Boeing

Tokyo, July 18 (Jiji Press)--Japan's industry ministry aims to sell Japanese-made parts to Boeing Co. for use in electric aircraft envisaged by the U.S. aviation giant, ministry sources said Thursday.
According to the sources, officials from Boeing, Japanese companies and the ministry discussed on Wednesday how to cut costs to make a light and strong compound material for the airframe.
In addition, the ministry and Boeing will consider technical matters for motorizing aircraft at a two-day meeting to be held in Tokyo from July 25.
Through the series of meetings, the U.S. maker hopes to win support from Japanese technology firms by explaining its strategy to develop the next-generation aircraft, the sources pointed out.
For a successful deal, the ministry will push domestic electronic device makers to develop aircraft parts while encouraging Boeing to buy them, they said.
