(Update 2) LDP Rising Star Koizumi to Marry TV Presenter Takigawa

Tokyo, Aug. 7 (Jiji Press)--Shinjiro Koizumi, a popular politician from the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, announced Wednesday that he will marry freelance television news presenter Christel Takigawa.
"When I am with Christel, she makes me feel like I can get away from the battlefield of politics, lean on her, and be at ease," Koizumi, 38, told reporters at the prime minister's office after reporting the news to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
"She turns me from Shinjiro Koizumi, politician, to Shinjiro Koizumi, human being," he said with Takigawa, 41, at his side. The couple will register their marriage on Thursday.
Koizumi, a fourth-generation lawmaker from a political dynasty and son of former Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, is in his fourth term as a member of the House of Representatives, the all-important lower chamber of parliament. He is seen as a potential "post-Abe" future prime minister thanks to his nationwide popularity, despite never having held a cabinet position.
Takigawa, born in France, built her career by presenting news on commercial TV channels. She is widely known for the catchphrase "omotenashi," meaning hospitality in Japanese, which she made popular in her 2013 presentation for Tokyo's bid to host the 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.
