Japan Govt Unfazed by S. Korea's Export Control

Tokyo, Aug. 12 (Jiji Press)--The Japanese government is unfazed by South Korea's decision to remove Japan from the list of trusted trade partners qualified for preferential treatment in export procedures.
Many Japanese officials expect only limited impact of the planned measure to tighten South Korean exports of strategic products to Japan, announced Monday, informed sources said.
"I'll check in details what the reason is" for the measure, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Masahisa Sato said on Twitter.
"But I guess few strategic materials come from South Korea to Japan," he continued. "I'll also confirm this."
"I can't comment because few details are available," a government official said, adding that further information will be collected including through the Japanese embassy in Seoul.
