Female Japan Govt Job Exam Passers Account for 37.3 Pct

Tokyo, Aug. 20 (Jiji Press)--The proportion of women who passed the fiscal 2019 examination for Japanese national public servants to be engaged in regular services hit a record high of 37.3 pct, a government body said Tuesday.
Of the overall 7,605 passers, 2,839 were women, according to the National Personnel Authority.
The overall total fell by 177 from fiscal 2018, which ended in last March.
One in every 3.9 applicants passed the latest exam, the NPA said.
The ratio marked a record low, as the number of applicants was small at a time when private firms are recruiting employees actively, according to the body.
