Japan, China, S. Korea Affirm Cooperation over N. Korea

Beijing, Aug. 21 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono and his Chinese and South Korean counterparts, Wang Yi and Kang Kyung-wha, respectively, on Wednesday affirmed their countries' close cooperation toward the complete denuclearization of North Korea.
As part of the cooperation, the ministers agreed to fully implement related U.N. Security Council resolutions against North Korea, according to Japanese officials.
The accord came at a meeting of Kono, Wang and Kang at a hotel in a Beijing suburb, following North Korea's recent launches of projectiles including short-range ballistic missiles.
The three countries' foreign ministers last held a three-way meeting in August 2016.
At Wednesday's gathering, Kono sought Chinese and South Korean support for Japan's efforts to resolve the issue of North Korea's abductions of Japanese citizens decades ago.
