(Update 2) Strong Typhoon Faxai Approaches Japan

   Tokyo, Sept. 8 (Jiji Press)--Very strong Typhoon Faxai was bearing down on Japan on Sunday and was on course to make landfall in the Kanto eastern region before dawn on Monday.
   The Japan Meteorological Agency warned of very strong wind, heavy rain and high waves.
   In Kanto, including Tokyo, the wind speed could hit a record high level for a typhoon. Heavy rain is feared to cause landslides or flooding.
   On the island of Kozushima in the Pacific, a maximum instantaneous wind speed of 58.1 meters per second was registered at around 9 p.m. (noon GMT).
   One-hour rainfall to 12:20 a.m. on Monday reached some 110 millimeters near Izu, Shizuoka Prefecture, central Japan.
