Tokyo, Sept. 9 (Jiji Press)--A powerful typhoon made landfall near Tokyo early Monday, bringing record-breaking strong winds and torrential rain to the Kanto eastern Japan region and leaving two people dead.
Typhoon Faxai, the 15th typhoon of the year, is one of the biggest typhoons to have landed in the Kanto region, which includes the Japanese capital.
It slammed into the vicinity of the city of Chiba shortly before 5 a.m. (8 p.m. Sunday GMT) after traveling near the Miura Peninsula in Kanagawa Prefecture and crossing Tokyo Bay.
