Nishimura Eyed as Japan Economic Revival Minister

Tokyo, Sept. 10 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe plans to name Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasutoshi Nishimura, 56, as economic revitalization minister, it was learned Tuesday.
The appointment will be part of a reshuffle of the cabinet and the leadership team of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party planned by Abe, also LDP president, for Wednesday. It will be the first time for Nishimura to be assigned to a ministerial post.
Koichi Hagiuda, 56, executive acting secretary-general of the LDP, will likely be appointed education, culture, sports, science and technology minister, also serving in a ministerial post for the first time, informed sources said.
Meanwhile, Abe will not add Shinjiro Koizumi, 38, head of the LDP's Health, Labor and Welfare Division, to the cabinet, the sources said. Whether Koizumi, a rising LDP star, will be given a ministerial post for the first time has been a key focus in the planned cabinet reshuffle.
Koizumi, a son of former Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, recently made headlines by announcing his marriage with freelance television anchor Christel Takigawa, 41, who is widely known for the catchphrase "omotenashi," or hospitality in Japanese, that she used during her 2013 presentation for Tokyo's bid to host the 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.
