Tensions with South Korea Still Challenge for Abe

   Tokyo, Sept. 11 (Jiji Press)--Tensions with South Korea remain a big challenge facing Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe after he reshuffled his cabinet on Wednesday.
   Other diplomatic challenges for Abe include territorial and peace treaty talks with Russia and North Korea's abductions of Japanese citizens.
   Tensions between Tokyo and Seoul flared up in October when the South Korean Supreme Court ordered a Japanese company to pay compensation to South Korean plaintiffs over wartime labor.
   Japan's decision to tighten its controls on exports to South Korea and Seoul's exit from an intelligence-sharing pact with Tokyo added to the tensions.
   There is the possibility of assets seized in South Korea from Japanese companies involved in wartime labor lawsuits being sold off as early as this year. In such a case, the Japanese government will take countermeasures, sources familiar with the situation said.
