(Update 3) Power Restoration to Take 2 More Weeks in Typhoon-Hit Chiba

Tokyo, Sept. 13 (Jiji Press)--Work to restore electricity is expected to take up to two more weeks to complete in Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo, after it was hit by Typhoon Faxai, Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc. <9501> said Friday.
This means that blackouts will last for as long as some 20 days after the 15th typhoon of the year struck the prefecture on Monday.
The restoration work has faced difficulty in some hard-hit areas as the typhoon brought significant damage to power lines and fell trees in wide areas, Yoshinori Kaneko, president of the company's TEPCO Power Grid Inc. unit, said at a press conference.
About 165,500 households in the prefecture were still without electricity as of Friday night. "Utmost efforts will be made to restore electricity as early as possible," Kaneko said.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe instructed ministers to ensure that electricity will be fully restored at an early date. The industry ministry set up a task force to address the blackouts.
