Typhoon Seriously Damages Chiba Farm, Fisheries Sectors

Chiba, Sept. 14 (Jiji Press)--Typhoon Faxai has caused serious damage to the agriculture, forestry and fisheries industries in Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo, with its impact expected to be prolonged.
A total of 314 hectares of plastic greenhouses were blown away by the 15th typhoon of the year, which also damaged nearly 200 fishing boats.
According to the prefectural government, typhoon damage on the agriculture, forestry and fisheries industries totaled some 19.3 billion yen as of Thursday.
The figure far exceeded the 4.6 billion yen inflicted by two typhoons in October 2017, which was the largest such damage in the past decade.
Agricultural facilities, including plastic greenhouses, suffered damage of some 11.5 billion yen due to the latest typhoon.
