72,000 Homes Still without Power in Chiba One Week On

Chiba, Sept. 16 (Jiji Press)--About 72,000 homes stayed without electricity in Chiba Prefecture on Monday, a week after Typhoon Faxai ripped through the Kanto eastern Japan region, causing power outages across the prefecture.
Water services remained suspended at 14,000 homes. At least 2,800 residential buildings were confirmed damaged as of Monday.
Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc. <9501> expects to take at least 10 more days to fully restore its electricity services in the prefecture, east of Tokyo, after moving back the planned dates of power restoration repeatedly.
TEPCO initially planned to fully end the power outages Wednesday. On that day, the planned date was moved back to as early as Friday.
As of Friday, TEPCO said there were four municipalities, including Minamiboso, where restoration work could continue until as late as Sept. 27. Late on Saturday, however, the number shot up to 22, newly including Futtsu and Kimitsu.
