Training Starts for 2020 Tokyo Games Volunteers

Tokyo, Oct. 4 (Jiji Press)--Training for volunteers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games started in the capital on Friday, with some 120,000 people seen taking such training by the end of February next year.
At the first day's three-hour session, a lecturer had explanations on Baron Pierre de Coubertin, called the father of modern Olympics, and the origin of the Paralympics, as well as how to serve disabled people.
The volunteers are divided into "field casts," to support competition operations at venues, and "city casts," to guide spectators at airports and stations near venues.
Specific care services for wheelchair users and visually impaired people were shown at the training session for city volunteers.
Such training sessions will be held at 11 prefectures across Japan in stages by the end of February next year, with some 80,000 field volunteers and 40,000 city volunteers expected to attend.
