Sky Perfect, JAXA to Set Up Broadcasting Studio at ISS

Tokyo, Nov. 7 (Jiji Press)--Satellite broadcaster Sky Perfect JSAT Corp., the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, or JAXA, and content production startup Bascule Inc. will set up a broadcasting studio at Japan's Kibo experimental module of the International Space Station.
They plan to start live broadcasting by astronauts from the studio, the world's first of its kind, in 2020, according to their announcement on Wednesday.
The studio, named the Space Frontier Studio Kibo, will utilize cameras installed outside the ISS and other equipment to realize space-to-ground bidirectional communication.
Sky Perfect, using its communication satellites, plan to start broadcasting and distribution of ultra-high definition images from the studio in 2022 or later.
This project is part of a space innovation partnership initiative between JAXA and private-sector companies.
