BOJ Posts Record Net Income in April-September

Tokyo, Nov. 27 (Jiji Press)--The Bank of Japan said Wednesday its net income for April-September rose to the highest level since the revised BOJ law went into force in 1998.
Its bottom line for the first half of fiscal 2019 grew to 921.4 billion yen from 827.9 billion yen a year before, gaining ground for the third consecutive year.
The growth chiefly reflected increased dividends from exchange-traded funds, which the central bank buys as part of its monetary easing measures.
The BOJ's gross assets as of the end of September reached a record 569 trillion yen, compared with the country's nominal gross domestic product of 549 trillion yen in 2018.
The asset figure showed a year-on-year increase for 12 years in a row, on the back of its continued large-scale purchases of Japanese government bonds under its monetary policy.
