New Warrant to Be Served on Akimoto for Extra Bribe

Tokyo, Jan. 10 (Jiji Press)--A fresh arrest warrant will be served on lawmaker Tsukasa Akimoto on suspicion of receiving bribes from a Chinese company other than those written in his first warrant, it was learned Friday.
The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office's special investigation squad plans to serve the warrant on Akimoto, 48, by Tuesday, when his detention period ends.
The member of the House of Representatives, the lower chamber of the Diet, Japan's parliament, was arrested last month for taking bribes from the company, 500.com Ltd., which planned to open a casino resort in Japan.
In December 2017, Akimoto inspected a casino facility in Macao and visited the Chinese company's head office in Shenzhen, according to informed sources.
Akimoto is suspected of having 500.com cover his expenses for the trip.
