Japan Core Consumer Prices Up 0.7 Pct in Dec.

   Tokyo, Jan. 24 (Jiji Press)--Japan's core consumer price index in December last year rose 0.7 pct from a year earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said Friday.
   The result matched the median forecast among 17 economic research institutes surveyed by Jiji Press.
   The core CPI, which excludes often volatile fresh food prices, stood at 102.2 against 100 for the base year of 2015. Month on month, the index was up 0.1 pct.
   In 2019, the average core CPI grew 0.6 pct from the previous year to 101.7, up for the third straight year, the ministry said.
