Japan Posts 524-B.-Yen Current Account Surplus in Dec.

   Tokyo, Feb. 10 (Jiji Press)--Japan's current account surplus in December 2019 rose 12.8 pct from a year before to 524 billion yen, the Ministry of Finance said Monday.
   The result came against the median forecast of 438.2 billion yen in surplus among 18 economic research institutes surveyed by Jiji Press.
   Japan logged a goods and services trade surplus of 145.2 billion yen, up 32.1 pct, the ministry said in the preliminary balance of payments report.
   The surplus on the primary income account shrank 2.1 pct to 400.1 billion yen.
   For the whole of 2019, Japan logged a current account surplus of 20,059.7 billion yen, up 4.4 pct from the preceding year.
