Japan Confirms 60 More Coronavirus Cases on Quarantined Ship

Tokyo, Feb. 10 (Jiji Press)--About 60 more people have been confirmed infected with the new coronavirus on a cruise ship quarantined off Japan, informed sources said Monday.
This brought to 130 the total number of passengers and crew members of the Diamond Princess cruise ship found infected with the virus, which originated in China's Wuhan.
The ship arrived at Daikoku Pier at the port of Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture, just south of Tokyo, on Feb. 3. Quarantine procedures started because a Hong Kong man who had left the ship in Hong Kong was found infected with the virus.
On Wednesday, Japan's health ministry called on all passengers and crew members to stay aboard the ship for 14 days to confirm whether they were infected.
Some 3,600 passengers and crew members are currently on the ship. About 80 pct of the passengers are in their 60s or older.
