(Update) Japanese Died from Coronavirus in Wuhan: Chinese Official

   Beijing, Feb. 10 (Jiji Press)--A Japanese national died in Wuhan on Saturday after suffering pneumonia caused by the new coronavirus, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said Monday.
   The Japanese national is believed to be the man in his 60s who the Japanese government said Saturday had died after hospitalization in Wuhan for severe pneumonia.
   China had previously said that the Japanese national was suspected of having the coronavirus. This is the first confirmed death of a Japanese national from the virus, which originated in Wuhan.
   Beijing has already informed Tokyo of the situation involving the coronavirus outbreak through diplomatic channels, Geng said at an online press conference.
   In China, 27 foreign nationals have developed pneumonia due to the virus and of them, the Japanese national and a U.S. national have died, Geng said.
