99 New Coronavirus Cases Confirmed in Japan

   Tokyo, June 28 (Jiji Press)--Ninety-nine new cases of novel coronavirus infection were confirmed in Japan on Sunday.
   The figure includes 60 in Tokyo and 17 in the northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido, both the highest daily counts since the country's state of emergency over COVID-19 was fully lifted on May 25.
   The total in the Japanese capital topped 50 for the third straight day and hit the highest level since the 87 marked on May 4.
   The cumulative total in Tokyo reached 6,114.
   The city government of Otaru, Hokkaido, said 14 people in their 60s to 80s tested positive for the coronavirus the same day. All are users of an eatery offering a daytime karaoke service.
