Japan Industrial Output Falls 8.4 Pct in May

   Tokyo, June 30 (Jiji Press)--Japan's industrial production fell 8.4 pct in May from the previous month, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Tuesday.
   The seasonally adjusted production index for the manufacturing and mining sectors stood at 79.1 against 100 for the base year of 2015. In April, the index dropped 9.8 pct.
   May's decline was larger than the median forecast of a 5.7 pct drop among 18 economic research institutes surveyed by Jiji Press.
   The shipment index dropped 8.4 pct to 77.2, down, and the inventory index fell 2.5 pct to 103.4.
   Production at manufacturers is expected to increase 5.7 pct in June and advance 9.2 pct in July, the ministry said.
