Japan Aug. Core Machinery Orders Up 0.2 Pct

   Tokyo, Oct. 12 (Jiji Press)--Japan's seasonally adjusted core machinery orders in August rose 0.2 pct from the previous month, the Cabinet Office said Monday.
   Private-sector orders excluding those for ships and power equipment, closely watched as a leading indicator of corporate capital spending, came to 752.5 billion yen.
   The August result, which followed a 6.3 pct increase in July, compared with the median estimate of a 1.0 pct decline by 18 economic research institutes surveyed by Jiji Press. Their estimates ranged from a fall of 6.5 pct to a rise of 4.0 pct.
