(Update) Japan Posts 605 New Cases of Novel Coronavirus

   Tokyo, Oct. 17 (Jiji Press)--A total of 605 people across Japan were newly found on Saturday to be infected with the novel coronavirus, responsible for the COVID-19 respiratory illness.
   Meanwhile, a total of three infected people in the prefectures of Nagano, Osaka and Hyogo were reported the same day to have died, bringing the country's death toll to 1,681.
   In Tokyo, 235 people were newly confirmed as positive for the coronavirus, according to the metropolitan government.
   The daily count of new coronavirus cases in the Japanese capital exceeded 200 for the first time in two days.
   The newly infected people in Tokyo included 64 people in their 20s, 44 in their 30s and 36 in their 40s, as well as 33 aged 65 or older.
