Hashimoto Seen Accepting Offer to Become Tokyo Games Chief

Tokyo, Feb. 18 (Jiji Press)--Seiko Hashimoto, Japanese minister for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, is seen accepting an offer to become the Tokyo organizing committee's president, a senior official of the committee said Thursday.
On the day, the organizing committee held the third meeting of a panel to find candidates for the successor of former committee chief Yoshiro Mori, who resigned last week over his controversial remarks about women.
Later in the day, the organizing committee is expected to take necessary procedures to appoint Hashimoto as its new president.
Speaking to reporters in the morning, Hashimoto declined to comment on the matter, citing the panel's ongoing process.
