Japan Core Consumer Prices Fall 0.6 Pct in Jan.

   Tokyo, Feb. 19 (Jiji Press)--Japan's core consumer price index fell 0.6 pct from a year earlier in January, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said Friday.
   The result compared with the median forecast of a 0.7 pct decline in a Jiji Press poll of 19 economic research institutes.
   The core CPI, which excludes often volatile fresh food prices, stood at 101.4 against 100 for the base year of 2015.
   After seasonal adjustment, the index was up 0.5 pct month on month.
