(Update) Osaka Logs 719 New Coronavirus Cases, Its Daily Record

   Tokyo, April 6 (Jiji Press)--Osaka Prefecture, western Japan, confirmed 719 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, marking its daily record high and outpacing Tokyo's daily tally of new cases for the eighth consecutive day.
   In Hyogo Prefecture, west of Osaka, the daily number of new coronavirus cases came to 276, the highest level since a state of emergency over the pandemic ended in the prefecture at the end of February.
   Nara Prefecture, east of Osaka, logged 78 new cases, rewriting its record high for the second successive day.
   In Tokyo, the metropolitan government reported 399 new cases, above 300 for the first time in two days and up from a week earlier for the sixth straight day.
   Tokyo's daily coronavirus tally averaged 396.9 in the week through Tuesday, up 9.8 pct from the preceding week's 361.6.
