(Update 2) Tokyo Reports 759 New Coronavirus Cases

   Tokyo, April 17 (Jiji Press)--Tokyo's metropolitan government said Saturday that it has newly confirmed 759 novel coronavirus infection cases.
   The daily count is the highest since the central government lifted its second state of emergency over the virus for Tokyo on March 21.
   Elsewhere in the country, the daily number of new infection cases stood at 1,161 in the western prefecture of Osaka, topping 1,000 for the fifth consecutive day.
   Record-high daily figures were logged in the western prefecture of Hyogo, at 541, in another western prefecture of Tokushima, at 44, and the southernmost prefecture of Okinawa, at 167.
   The seven-day average of new infection cases in Tokyo stood at 569, up 24.1 pct from a week before.
