Japan March Industrial Output Up 2.2 Pct

   Tokyo, April 30 (Jiji Press)--Japan's industrial production in March rose 2.2 pct from the previous month, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Friday.
   The seasonally adjusted production index for the manufacturing and mining sectors stood at 97.7 against 100 for the base year of 2015.
   The result compared with the median forecast of a 2.0 pct drop among 19 economic research institutes surveyed by Jiji Press.
   The shipment index stood at 95.2, up 0.8 pct, and the inventory index at 94.5, up 0.1 pct.
   Manufacturers' production is expected to increase 8.4 pct in April and decline 4.3 pct in May, the ministry said.
