Japan's Current Account Surplus Up 540.2 Pct in April

   Tokyo, June 8 (Jiji Press)--Japan's current account surplus in April rose 540.2 pct from a year before to 1,321.8 billion yen, the Ministry of Finance said Tuesday.
   The result came against the median forecast of 1,511.1 billion yen in surplus among 17 economic research institutes surveyed by Jiji Press.
   Japan logged a goods and services trade deficit of 665.3 billion yen, down from a deficit of 1,714.6 billion yen a year before, the ministry said in a preliminary balance of payments report.
   In goods trade, Japan's surplus totaled 289.5 billion yen, against 926.9 billion yen in deficit. Exports were up 38.0 pct at 6,825.5 billion yen, and imports were up 11.3 pct at 6,536.0 billion yen.
   The surplus on the primary income account expanded 7.3 pct to 2,175.3 billion yen.
