Tokyo Logs 1,004 New Coronavirus Cases

   Tokyo, Sept. 14 (Jiji Press)--Tokyo confirmed 1,004 new cases of novel coronavirus infection Tuesday, down by 625 from a week before, the metropolitan government said.
   Tokyo's daily cases decreased week on week for the 23rd straight day. New COVID-19 fatalities in the Japanese capital came to 14.
   The seven-day average of new infection cases stood at 1,243.7 as of Tuesday, down 44.3 pct from a week before.
   Of the new cases reported Tuesday, people in their 20s made up the largest group, at 259, followed by those in their 30s, at 198, and those in their 40s, at 168. People aged 19 or under accounted for 174 while those aged 65 or over came to 64.
   The number of COVID-19 patients with severe symptoms measured under the metropolitan government's standards fell by 17 from Monday to 208.
