(Update 2) Okinawa, Others Log Record Coronavirus Cases

   Tokyo, Jan. 13 (Jiji Press)--Okinawa, Hiroshima and some other prefectures in Japan reported record daily coronavirus cases Thursday.
   Meanwhile, the Tokyo metropolitan government confirmed 3,124 cases.
   In the southernmost prefecture of Okinawa, the daily count reached 1,817 cases, exceeding the previous record of 1,759 cases marked Saturday. Thursday's tally was about double the week before level.
   Osaka Governor Hirofumi Yoshimura said that the number of new cases in the western prefecture is expected to total around 2,400 on Thursday.
   It would be the first daily count above 2,000 in the prefecture since Sept. 8 last year and would be up nearly fivefold from a week earlier.
