(Update 2) N. Korea Fires 3 Ballistic Missiles

Seoul, May 12 (Jiji Press)--North Korea fired three short-range ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan from the Sunan district of Pyongyang on Thursday, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said.
The projectiles, launched around 6:30 p.m. (9:30 a.m. GMT), fell into waters outside Japan's exclusive economic zone, according to Japan's Defense Ministry.
The missiles traveled about 360 kilometers and reached the maximum altitude of about 90 kilometers, South Korean military officials said.
Japanese Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi said that the missile firing "violates U.N. Security Council resolutions and we strongly condemn it."
Tokyo lodged a protest with Pyongyang through its embassy in Beijing.
