Japan April Core Machinery Orders Up 10.8 Pct

   Tokyo, June 15 (Jiji Press)--Japan's seasonally adjusted core machinery orders in April rose 10.8 pct from the previous month, the Cabinet Office said Wednesday.
   Private-sector orders excluding those for ships and power equipment, closely watched as a leading indicator of corporate capital spending, came to 963 billion yen.
   The April result, which followed a 7.1 pct increase in March, compared with the median estimate of a 1.4 pct decline by 19 economic research institutes surveyed by Jiji Press. Their estimates ranged from a fall of 4.9 pct to a rise of 3.0 pct.
