Japan Core Consumer Prices Up 2.8 Pct in Aug.

   Tokyo, Sept. 20 (Jiji Press)--Core consumer prices in Japan rose 2.8 pct in August from a year earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said Tuesday.
   The result compared with the median forecast of a 2.7 pct increase among 18 economic research institutes surveyed by Jiji Press.
   The core consumer price index, which excludes often volatile fresh food prices, stood at 102.5 against 100 for the base year of 2020. Month on month, the index was up 0.4 pct after seasonal adjustment.
