Japan Core Consumer Prices Up 3.6 Pct in Oct.

   Tokyo, Nov. 18 (Jiji Press)--Japan's core consumer price index in October rose 3.6 pct from a year earlier, the steepest rise in 40 years and eight months, government data showed Friday.
   The result compared with the median forecast of a 3.5 pct increase among 17 economic research institutes surveyed by Jiji Press.
   The core CPI, which excludes often volatile fresh food prices, stood at 103.4 against 100 for the base year of 2020, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said. Month on month, the index was up 0.5 pct after seasonal adjustment.
