Tokyo Police Request Arrest Warrant for Ex-Lawmaker GaaSyy

   Tokyo, March 16 (Jiji Press)--Tokyo police on Thursday requested an arrest warrant for expelled lawmaker GaaSyy for alleged defamation and extortion against several well-known individuals on a video-sharing platform, investigative sources said.
   The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department sought the warrant on suspicion of habitual intimidation and forcible obstruction of business, according to the sources.
   The 51-year-old, whose real name is Yoshikazu Higashitani, was expelled as a lawmaker of the House of Councillors, the upper chamber of the Diet, Japan's parliament, on Wednesday, after failing to attend any Diet sessions since being elected in July last year.
