Profiles of Ministers in Japan PM Kishida's New Cabinet II

Minoru Kihara, Defense Minister
   Kihara, 54, was first elected to parliament in the 2005 Lower House poll, after working at Japan Airlines, and has served as head of the LDP's Youth Division, often considered as a first step to a successful career in the party.
   He was also a special adviser on national security to Shinzo Abe and Yoshihide Suga when they were prime ministers.
   Kihara is close to LDP Secretary-General Motegi and is known as a master coordinator who served as director-general at multiple organizations including the consultative council for Japanese and Taiwanese lawmakers.
