Johnny & Associates Announces Sex Abuse Response Measures

Johnny & Associates Announces Sex Abuse Response Measures

Tokyo, Sept. 13 (Jiji Press)--Johnny & Associates Inc. said Wednesday it will not take a cut of performance fees for its members for a year so the performers can be paid fully.
Announcing its measures to respond to the sexual abuse over decades by Johnny Kitagawa, the late founder of the largest talent agency in Japan, the company also said it will set up a relief committee comprising lawyers to take charge of providing compensation for the abuse victims.
The committee, made up of three former judges, will examine applications from the victims regardless of whether they currently belong to the agency or not and fix the compensation amount independently from the company.
The agency also said it will implement an educational program to prevent a similar crime from happening again.
Those measures were drawn up based on recommendations last month by a special team of outside experts to investigate the scandal.
