(Update 2) 2 Dead in Accident at Tokyo Construction Site

Tokyo, Sept. 19 (Jiji Press)--Two workers died in an accident that occurred at a construction site in the Yaesu district in Tokyo's Chuo Ward on Tuesday.
The two, who were confirmed dead after being sent to hospital, were among five male workers in their 20s to 40s involved in the incident in which a steel frame collapsed around 9:20 a.m., according to the Metropolitan Police Department and the Tokyo Fire Department.
The other three workers suffered injuries, with one of them unconscious and in critical condition.
According to the Tokyo police, the roughly 15-ton steel frame fell and apparently caused four workers, including the two who died, to drop from the seventh-floor section of the building under construction at the site to the third-floor section. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
The site, located in a business district, is about 100 meters from the Yaesu exit of Tokyo Station. Construction of the building, a 51-story commercial complex set to house stores and offices, began in 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in 2025.
