Japan, U.S. to Announce Cooperation on Semiconductors, AI

Tokyo, March 30 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and U.S. President Joe Biden are expected to announce at their meeting next month that their countries will strengthen cooperation on advanced technologies such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence.
The cooperation is part of wide-ranging collaboration across economic, diplomatic and security fields to be announced at the April 10 meeting in Washington, in which the two governments will define the bilateral ties as a "global partnership."
These will be included in a joint statement to be released after the meeting.
Kishida will travel to the United States as a state guest from April 8. It will be the first U.S. state visit by a Japanese prime minister since former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's trip in 2015.
After their summit, Kishida and Biden are slated hold a joint press conference at the White House and announce the joint statement. A related document listing the details of planned bilateral cooperation will also be released.
