Nihon Hidankyo Chosen to Receive Nobel Peace Prize

London, Oct. 11 (Jiji Press)--The Norwegian Nobel Committee said Friday it has selected the Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations, or Nihon Hidankyo, as the recipient of this year's Nobel Peace Prize.
"The extraordinary efforts of Nihon Hidankyo and other representatives of the Hibakusha (atomic bomb survivors) have contributed greatly to the establishment of a nuclear taboo," the committee said in its reason for selecting the group.
Nihon Hidankyo will receive the award at a ceremony in the Norwegian capital of Oslo on Dec. 10.
