Ishiba Touts Summit with China's Li as Clue to Resolving Issues

Vientiane, Oct. 11 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba said Friday that the previous day's summit between him and Chinese Premier Li Qiang provided a clue to resolving issues between the two countries.
Ishiba was speaking at a press conference in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, after attending a series of summit meetings related to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, as well as bilateral summits with China and South Korea.
Ahead of the Oct. 27 general election in Japan, the new prime minister said that funds distributed by political parties to member lawmakers under a controversial policy activity expense system should be used in a restrictive manner.
At a parliamentary debate on Wednesday, he did not rule out the possibility of such funds being used for campaigning.
